THE DREAM

The dream of Pretty Crafty came from Dar's love of creating. She has dreamed her entire life of an "unending" supply of craft supplies.  Dar dared to dream of a store that could provide her every need -  craft supplies everywhere, meeting new and exciting people everyday, and sharing her crafting experience with others.

Enter Jon - husband, partner and the weekend warrior. Every Sunday Jon would drive Dar from craft store to craft store always listening to her incessant chatter - “I really need..........." or "I could make that".

Jon had a dream of his own. It included a log cabin in the mountains, Dar working in her craft room, and Jon burning brush on a mountain-side.  Sundays would be spent rocking on the deck of that log cabin. Jon's dream was to always be able to enjoy the pristine views of the Smokey Mountains and to live a simple life. Could these two dreams come together?

One rainy weekend in November, Jon and Dar were nearing the completion of their cabin and decided they'd play for the day!  Knowing they would be living in the mountains soon, they went in search of an area craft supply store.   They only found two!  Immediately Dar began stressing.  There is absolutely no way she could live in a place that doesn't offer a whole lot of craft supplies!  "Maybe it's time you opened that craft store you've always dreamed of" say's Jon.  That afternoon the beginning of a dream came true -  off they go in search of the perfect location for a craft store.

On the way into Maggie Valley, Dar pointed out a "For Sale" sign in the distance.  As they drove closer, they fell hopelessly in love with what is now the home of Pretty Crafty.  The next area craft store is on it's way -  and it all happened in one afternoon!

Jon & Dar returned to Florida and showed Cindy the "Craft Store" - home to be…….. She had already fallen in love with North Carolina and had wanted to retire there for a long time. This could be a dream come true for her as well. Cindy loves to do needlework, and embroidery. She used to design jewelry when she was young (very, very young) – enter partner number three.

The three partners joined hands and have been working on giving life to Pretty Crafty ever since. They love the challenge of building a new business and seeing a dream come true.

We want Pretty Crafty to feel as though it's an extension of your craft room!
